Eight hospitals fined Rs. 5.5 Mn for overcharging on FBC, Dengue tests

The Colombo and Gangodawila Magistrate’s Courts have imposed Rs.5.5 million as fines on eight private hospitals and private laboratories who charged more than the control price for dengue   antigen test and full blood count (FBC) test.

During the raids carried out by the Consumer Affairs Authority in the Colombo area, they had detected these eight institutions that charged more than the amount approved by the government for dengue antigen test and full blood count test and had informed the courts.

After five institutions pleaded guilty before the Colombo Additional Magistrate’s Court, a fine of Rs.3.5 million rupees was imposed on the five institutions.

The Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court had imposed a fine of Rs.2 million against three institutions.
