Malwatte Chief Prelate appreciates Arab Council’s support to Sri Lanka

Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter, Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera said that drugs come to this country mostly from certain countries and as a result the relevant countries should focus special attention regarding this.

The Malwatte Chief Prelate was speaking when the Ambassadors of Palestine, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates paid a courtesy call on him.

The Chief Prelate further said that he appreciates the support being given to Sri Lanka by countries of the Arab Council.

The Mahanayake Thera said that people are under severe pressure, irrespective of differences in nationality and religion due to scourge of drugs and that all countries should join hands in preventing the drug traffickers from operating in the region.

Dar Zaid, Egyptian Ambassador Maged Mohieldin Nafei Mosleh, United Arab Emirates Ambassador Khaled Nasser Sulaiman AlAmeri Called on the Malwatte Mahanayake Thera Most. Ven.Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera to inform the Chief Prelate of the support of Arab Council countries to Sri Lanka.

The Chief Prelate said that the Sinhala and Muslim people of Sri Lanka live in harmony and coexistence and it is certain politicians who are trying to create a wedge and divisions among the various communities. The Malwatte Chief Prelate said that certain politicians divide people as Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim for gaining power and it is because of this that there is a wrong message being conveyed to the international Community that Sri Lankans are divided on racial and religious lines.

The Mahanayake Thera said that the people in this country live in peaceful co-existence at grass roots level and that the Ridiyagama mosques as well as mosque in Kandy have been built on lands belonging to Buddhist temples.
