SL Muslim expats in Canada donate over Rs. 26 mn in medical supplies to LRH

A donation of essential medical supplies worth over Rs. 26 million to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) in Colombo, from the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Canada was made recently through Zam Zam Foundation in Sri Lanka in partnership with IDRF, a Canadian NGO based in Toronto.

Lady Ridgeway Hospital Director Dr. G. Wijesuriya accepted the donation from Dr. Aslam Hasana Lebbe and Rimzy Kutubdeen, at the event held at the hospital auditorium on Tuesday (28). Zam Zam Foundation Chairman Mufthi Yoosuff Haniffa together with Ash Sheikh Arkam Nooramith also attended the event.

The donation was made at the request of hospital authorities, due to the severe shortage of medicines in public hospitals in Sri Lanka. The donations towards the project were primarily from the Sri Lankan expats in Toronto while it is noteworthy to mention that many non-Sri Lankans in Toronto too donated funds for this worthy cause.
