Catholic Church rejects apology

National Director for Social Communications Rev. Fr. Jude Chrishantha said that the Catholic Church will not accept the apology made by

former President Maithripala Sirisena for the Easter Sunday attacks. Commenting on the apology made by former President Maithripala Sirisena, he said that the negligence of duties by former President as the Head of State and the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces led to the loss of lives.

Rev.Chrishantha said that the former President has not read the court judgement “The Catholic Church has studied the court judgement in depth,” he said.

He said that the former President should have made an apology soon after the attacks took place. “He should apologise to all Sri Lankans for the attacks,” he said.
