‘Janani’ to enhance digital literacy among female LG Election contestants

Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) Executive Director Mannas Makeen said that its ‘Janani’ will enhance digital literacy among female members of Local Government (LG) bodies and build confidence to face the media at press briefings. 

‘Janani’ was conducted as a series of three workshops covering all 25 administrative districts in the island and held at either district level or provincial level. 

Between 30 to 35 participants were selected from the districts in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces, while a similar number were selected from each of the other districts for the workshops. 

A panel comprising  Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Reforms and Electoral Studies Manjula Gajanayake, Hi TV Chief Editor Harindra Nissanka, Media Researcher Varshini Kalawarshini, Senior Journalist J. Yoga Raj, former Commissioner of Local Government Dharmasiri Nanayakkara and Director (Legal) of CaFFE Harindra Banagala conducted the programme.
