Oman human smuggling racket

Embassy official Kushan, interepreter Asha give evidence against each other:

Information regarding five other Sri Lankan agents involved in the human trafficking racket to Oman has been revealed in the investigations done by the Human Trafficking, Smuggling and Maritime Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department. A senior officer of the Human Trafficking,

Smuggling and Marine Crime Investigation Division said a special police team has been deployed to arrest those people.

Asha Dissanayake, who is currently under remand in connection with this human trafficking racket is said to have given information implicating E. Kushan, who was working as the third secretary of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman. Kushan, who is in custody, has also given evidence against Asha Dissanayake to the CID.

Thirteen Sri Lankans working in several agencies in Oman who are said to have been engaged in selling Sri Lankan women have also been identified by name.

Sources said that the complete information about them has been requested from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman, but so far the information has not been received by the Smuggling and Maritime Crime Investigation Division of the CID.
