Census on Population and Housing next year

The Census and Statistics Department has planned to conduct Sri Lanka’s 15th Census on Population and Housing next year.

The census will be conducted in several steps and the activities of the first steps have already been completed, the Department said.

Training of the officers for the census will commence in December, the department said adding that data will be gathered and saved using tab computers.

The officers are responsible to conduct the survey covering entire country and without neglecting a single person and avoiding the repetitions.The census is expected to be concluded in 2024. The last Census on Population and Housing in Sri Lanka was conducted in 2012.

Nearly 50,000 officers are expected to join the survey this year.
