Member of Parliament Dullus Alahapperuma said that the Government is preparing to remove the Chairman of the Election Commission Nimal Punchihewa based on technical issues that arose with the 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
The MP stated this while attending a professional discussion organized by the “Nidahasa Janathawa” Council yesterday (30).
“What they are trying to do now is to postpone this election for technical reasons.
The Provincial Council Elections that were postponed in 2017 is still not there. Also, the Provincial Council was postponed for technical reasons. This Government is trying to run away without facing the public opinion”. The MP said legal action will be initiated if the elections are postponed.
