President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the relevant officials to compile regulations restricting any unregistered vehicle entering the Yala National Park.
He has also instructed officials not to allow any unauthorised vehicle to enter the other National Parks and places such as Wilpattu, Horton Plains, Sinharaja and Sripada Forest Reserve.
The President gave these instructions during a meeting with officers of all the institutions which come under the scope of the Ministry of Environment. He has also informed the officers to compile a project report relating to the introduction of electric vehicles to transport tourists visiting Horton Plains. President Wickremesinghe has also instructed the officers to enact more rules and regulations relating to the protection of the environment. Environment Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe and other officers were present.
