Fees for obtaining NICs revised

Fees pertaining to the services provided by the Department of Registration for Persons including issuing new National Identity Cards (NICs) have been revised by the Minister of Public Security with effect from November 1. Accordingly, the applicant should pay an amount of Rs.200 for obtaining an NIC for the first time.

The Department will charge Rs.1,000 for the issuance of a duplicate of an NIC.In addition, the fee for the issuance of duplicates of amended NICs has been revised as Rs.500 while the fee for the issuance of a new NIC for an expired one have been revised as Rs.200 with effect from the same date.The proposed Digital Identity Card will be valid for a period of 10 years, the department said.
