Prison Tribunal meets for Priyamali over phones

Thilini Priyamali who was caught by prison officials with a mobile phone in her possession inside prison, was brought before the Prison Tribunal yesterday. During proceeding the trial was been adjourned until November 3.

The Colombo Additional District Judge and the Prison Tribunal visited Welikada Prison and conducted the trial.

Thilini Priyamali, was placed in remand custody by the Fort Magistrate on October 6. While in the custody of the Welikada Prison Women’s Wing, a mobile phone was seized from the suspect’s possession during a search operation on October 9 at around 9.30 pm.

Accordingly, yesterday (13) Colombo Additional District Judge presented charges related to the suspect’s possession of a mobile phone, which is an illegal prohibited substance, subject to prison rules and regulations, and presented it to the first Oral Prison Tribunal.
