Mastermind in Minuwangoda triple murder arrested

The Police on Thursday arrested the mastermind in the Minuwangoda triple murder, who was hiding in Anuradhapura.

Police have so far arrested six suspects, including a husband and wife, involved in this murder. Only two underworld criminals, including the shooter, remain to be arrested.

These suspects were arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Gampaha Division Criminal Investigation officials and the Special Task Force. The mastermind of this triple murder is a businessman who is known as Karavalaya. This suspect had fled the Minuwangoda area in a van after the murder while informing three others accomplices involved in the murder to come to Rambewa by a passenger bus.

They were arrested yesterday in the Galewela area after they boarded a CTB bus which was travelling from Gampaha to Anuradhapura. Police said that two of them had come to the house to commit the murder by wearing Police uniforms. Police said that the mastermind in this triple murder who was arrested in Rambewa is the father of Lakshitha Lakmal Silva, who was killed at Kotagedara in Minuwangoda on June 20, 2021.

Police said that Lakshitha Lakmal Silva, alias Sudu, was hacked to death by the father and the two sons who were murdered at their house on Thursday .

The case in connection with the murder of Lakshitha Lakmal Silva was to be taken up before the Minuwangoda Courts yesterday.

It has been revealed that the mastermind of the triple murder who is known as Karavalaya, has committed the murder to avenge the murder of his son by giving a contract to an underworld drug dealer in Gampaha, who is staying in Dubai. Investigations have also revealed that the underworld criminal used two of his followers to carry out this murder. They are the two who have come on a motorcycle.

It has also been revealed that they left the motorcycle in Badalgama area and took only the T-56 weapon when they fled after committing the triple murder.

Thus, the Police have arrested a couple on the charge of aiding and abetting the escape of three suspects in this triple murder

Accordingly, six suspects have been arrested in connection with this murder. The questioning has revealed that the arrested woman also gave Rs.2000 as bus fare to the two suspects in disguise as Police officers to go to Anuradhapura.
