‘Invite top global universities to open campuses in Sri Lanka’

Sri Lanka should urgently look at inviting top global universities and setting up campus in Sri Lanka to stop the ‘dollar drain’ by local students when going for overseas education said Business partner, international Centre of international Center of Business Management (Pvt) Limited (ICBM) Campus and stagiest, Manjula Fernando.

He said that parents of local students spend over USD 1 billion annually for their children’s education expenses overseas and by setting up international universities these students can learn from home and save this huge forex export bill to Sri Lanka and can get the same qualification.

He also said that current private education institutes should seek more affiliations with globe universities. “in this way local students can complete half of their education in Sri Lanka by paying in local currency and then do the final part overseas. “In this way the country can save a sizable portion of Forex.”

He said that ICMB one of the leading tertiary educational institutions in Sri Lanka and has also adopted this model and has already affiliated themselves to University of Technology Cambodia (ICC). ICBM Campus is a partner Institute for IIC University of Technology, Cambodia holding rights to deliver its Bachelors, Master and Doctoral programs for Sri Lankan students.”

“The Cambodian ICC is globally recognized and also recognized by the UGC (University Grants Commission) Sri Lanka and hence the education programs that are done with ICBM and ICC has international recognizam.”

The ICBM campus was established with one fundamental goal: to enable the working professionals to secure a higher educational qualification while maintaining a fair balance of work and personal life.
