Cambodian monks donate dry rations, money for needy people

A Buddhist group led by Cambodian Buddhist monks has donated dry ration worth Rs. 24 million and money to provide relief to underprivileged people who are facing hardships due to the prevailing economic crisis.

Chief Sanghanayake (Dakshina Lankawa) of the Ramanna Chapter Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera said that the Mahanayake Theras of the ThreeChapters will distribute the relief items among the needy people in Kandy. Four hundred parcels along with essential items each worth Rs 5,000, which were bought from the donated money, were handed over to the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters on Wednesday by representatives of Ven. Sangaraja Thera of Cambodia and Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera.

Alawathugoda Saman Devale Basnayake Nilame Jayampathy Heenkenda coordinated the event.
