‘Welle Kumari’ arrested with heroin

A married woman notoriously known as ‘Welle Kumari’ (Beach Princess) was arrested with 5,333 milligrams of heroin in a tsunami village located in Walahanduwa Estate in Akmeemana, Galle Police Anti-Vice Branch, sources said. The 52-year-old suspect who is a noted drug dealer was arrested at her residence. Police also said that she was a woman who had been arrested earlier in connection with drug trafficking.

"Two of the woman's children had died in the tsunami, '' Police said. The suspect was to be produced in Courts on completion of investigations. PS Soyza, PC Jagoda, PC Aravinda and WPC Soyza led by the Anti-Vice Branch OIC IP T.M. Mahesh made the arrest.
