Wild Life officers rescue leopard trapped inside house

A leopard which was trapped inside a house in the Lindula area was rescued by the Nuwara-Eliya Wild Life officers yesterday (05).

The leopard that was chasing a dog had jumped onto the roof and had fallen into the house. The house is in Logi estate in the Lindula area. The house owner S.Suresh said that he and his family were watching television around 10.40 p.m. when the leopard fell through the roof into one of the rooms.

They had fled the house and locked the leopard inside. Wildlife Department officers along with Veterinarian Akalanka Pinideniya of the Randenigala Veterinary Hospital following a mission which took around 16 hours, were able to sedate the leopard and safely transport it out of the house. Nuwara-Eliya Wildlife Department sources stated that the leopard will be safely relocated.
