Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said yesterday that businesses with multiple vehicles can now register all vehicles with the Business Registration Number to obtain the National Fuel Pass. The Minister said fuel requirements for machinery must be registered with the respective Divisional Secretariats with the weekly fuel requirements.
It is compulsory for all three wheelers to register with the nearest police station to obtain fuel since only registered three wheelers will be issued fuel from August 1 at any one fuel station preferred by them.
Accordingly, all three-wheel owners are requested to register their three wheelers with the nearest police station at their respective police division before July 31 to obtain fuel.
When registering with the police station the three-wheeler owners have to nominate a filling station of their choice, from where they prefer to obtain fuel.
From August 1, only registered three wheelers will be issued fuel from the nominated filling station.
Meanwhile, over 4 million users have registered with the National Fuel Pass platform so far to receive their QR code to obtain their weekly fuel quota.
In a Twitter post yesterday, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said that the National Fuel Pass shows great improvement. He said that almost 50% of fuel stations are following the Fuel Pass QR system.
The minister noted that as of 8.30pm on Thursday (27) 4.25 million persons had registered.A total of 481 fuel stations had adopted to the system comprising 409 CEYPETCO and 72 Lanka IOC filling stations. He also said that 158,208 users had obtained fuel with the Fuel Pass QR code during the day (27th ).
