Private bus rams into fuel queue

A private bus plying on the Batticaloa–Kalmunai highway hit five people waiting in a long queue to buy petrol early on Monday morning (27).

The five people and their five motorcycles were hit by the private bus in Urani in the Kokkuvil Police area.

The injured persons were taken to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital and the bus driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene.

This vehicle was carrying apparel factory workers from Chenkalady to Arayampathy. The vehicle has been taken to the police station and inquiries are ongoing.
