UN will play active role to help ease economic crisis - UN Resident Coordinator Hanaa Singer

Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister and Leader of the House of Parliament Dinesh Gunawardena met the UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Hanaa Singer at his Ministry in Colombo 7 on Friday, the Ministry spokesman said.

“During the discussion held between Minister Gunawardena and the UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Hanaa Singer, the UN Resident Coordinator had stated that the UN will play an active role in methodologies that will be used to ease the current economic crisis of the country,” the Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, she had also stated that the UN will work in order to get the attention of other countries to Sri Lanka to obtain aid. Intervene to get assistance for food, drugs and fertilizer.

Minister Gunawardena had thanked her for being sensitive towards the current situation of Sri Lanka and acting as a mediator during these difficult time.
