Colombo District Court Judge Purnima Paranagama has yesterday issued an Enjoining Order preventing the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Union (CEBEU) members from disrupting the continuous supply of electricity to the public by engaging in any strike or trade union action. The Injunction Order on the CEB Engineers’ Union will be effective for the upcoming 14 days.
The District Court Judge made this order considering a complaint filed by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Union Chairman (CEBEU) Anil Induwara, Joint Secretary Dhammika Wimalaratne and several others were named as the respondents of the petition.
The Judge ordered the Court Registrar to inform the Order to the relevant respondents by telephone immediately.
The Colombo District Court issued notices on respondents and the case would be taken up for hearing again on June 22.
