Meegahakiula PS to implement project to produce carbonic fertilizer

Meegahakiula Pradeshiya Sabah has taken measures to implement a project of manufacturing carbonic fertilizer to help the farmers, who are facing fertilizer shortage. The project is implemented under the supervision of Vice Chairman of Meegahakiula Pradeshiya Sabah Samantha Kumara. The raw materials for the manufacturing process is collected from the same area along with the assistance of the farmers in the area under the instructions of the Meegahakiula Agrarian

Services Centre Agriculture Instructor G. H. Cyril Weerasinghe. The Vice Chairman further said that with the implementation of this project he would be able to provide fertilizer to all the farmers in his area without any shortage in the coming season. He said that the main issue of the farmers is the fertilizer. He added that the farmers are

reluctant to get used to carbonic fertilizer though they are instructed. He also said that the attitude of the people and the farmers have to be changed to make such a transformation.He added that it is hoped that by way of making farmers to manufacture carbonic fertilizer, the attitude of them could be changed gradually. Centre Agriculture Instructor G. H. Cyril Weerasinghe said quality carbonic fertilizer could be manufactured by using the degradable waste from homes, home gardens, farming lands and poultry farms. He said further manufacturing of carbonic fertilizer is easy and a good past-time. He added that with a raw-material block of correct proportions would produce 1000 kg of carbonic fertilizer.
