Environment Minister challenges SLMC Leader to public debate

Aggrieved Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) member and Environment Minister Hafizh Nazeer Ahmed who was sacked from the Congress last week has openly challenged SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem for a public debate to clear the doubts regarding the allegations made by Hakeem which were widely circulated among all Media platforms.

“Neither of us can shirk our responsibilities from acknowledging the Muslim Community about what has happened since this Government has come to power, Minister Ahamed told the Daily News on Sunday, May 1.

“In these current issues, it is up to the community to decide who is guilty and who has slipped away from responsibilities towards society,” Ahamed said, calling for a public debate which can unveil the real face of Hakeem.”

“Both of us have been provided responsibilities by the Muslim Community through their valuable vote which is people’s power,” he stressed.

After the voting for the 20th Amendment to the Constitution by Parliamentarians M. C. Faisal Caseem, H. M. M. Harees and M. S. Thowfeek including me, were subject to criticisms, but those who criticized do not know the circumstances that led to the truthful scenario and who was behind it and the nature of the talks held between SJB MP Rauff Hakeem and top Government representatives regarding the 20th Amendment voting.

“I hope that you and I have to clarify the truth of these current issues to the community. In addition, we have an obligation to present all the related evidence and documents in this regard before the people’s court for their judgement,” Minister told Hakeem.
