‘Dematagoda Ruwan’, ‘Podi Lassi’ further remanded till February 1

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Ragala on Tuesday ordered the extension of remand for Ruwan Chamila alias ‘Dematagoda Ruwan’ who was charged with amassing billions of rupees worth of properties through the sale of narcotics, till February 1.

The Senior Counsel appearing on behalf of the suspect requested the Magistrate to release his client under any suitable bail conditions.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) then urged the Magistrate to further remand the suspect, as investigations were continuing.

Meanwhile, alleged underworld figure Janith Madusanka alias ‘Podi Lassi’ was yesterday ordered to be further remanded till February 1.

The CID along with officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau arrested Podi Lassi on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Taking the facts into consideration, the Magistrate rejected the bail applications submitted on behalf of both suspects.
