Diver killed in crocodile attack in Dehiwala

An ornamental fish diver had succumbed to his injuries following a crocodile attack in the seas off the Dehiwala coast last morning.

The victim, 53-year-old Jayantha Peris is a father of one, who lived in Ratmalana area.

According to the area residents, the crocodile is about 14-feet in length.

The fishermen of the area had rescued and had rushed him to the Kalubowila Hospital, however he succumbed shortly after.

The remains of the victim are placed at the Kalubowila Hospital Mortuary. The OIC of the Kalubowila Police told the Daily News that this is the first time that such a crocodile attack was reported in this coastal area.
