‘Dematagoda Ruwan’ further remanded

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Ragala yesterday rejected the bail application filed by the suspect Ruwan Chamila Prasanna alias ‘Dematagoda Ruwan’ and remanded him till December 17.

The suspect, a resident of Dematagoda had been charged with earning billions of rupees through the peddling of illegal drugs such as heroin.The prosecution told the Magistrate that they had also siezed another vehicle into their custody.

The CID further informed the Court that they revealed information pertaining a locker belonging to the suspect’s sister-in-law, at a bank situated in Dematagoda.

President’s Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe appearing on behalf of the suspect pleaded his client be released on bail.

Weerasinghe further highlighted that the investigation were carried out based on information received by the Inspector General of Police.

He also noted that all the properties of the suspect have already been banned by the Police.

After taking submissions into consideration, the Magistrate rejected the bail application.
