Gamata Sannivedanaya reaches Anuradhapura

Gamata Sannivedanaya (Communication to the village), which was initiated according to a concept of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is progressing now successfully, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) Director General Oshada Senanayake said. Having initiated in the Rathnapura District, it has been extended to 600 villages. The master programme comprises 36 projects and of them, 18 have been completed to date.

In the Anuradhapura District, data relevant to 694 Grama Niladari Divisions had already been collected and erecting 31 towers will be started soon. The Government jointly with the TRC provides half of the fund for the islandwide programme. Dialog, Mobitel, SLT and Airtel will set up towers in this regard,” the Director General said.

Anuradhapura Government Agent Janaka Jayasundara said that since the technology has become an essential facility, the Government has given top priority for the programme.

He said that the Divisional Secretaries have been instructed to extend their full corporation towards installing communication towers.

Anuradhapura District Planning Director Sugath Nayanananda, Pradesheeya Sabha (PS) Members, Officials including Divisional Secretaries and Telecommunication Service Providers participated in the meeting via Zoom.
