Wanindu and Charith in ICC most valuable team

Two of the most successful players of the Sri Lankan T20 team Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga have been named in the Official ICC men's T20 world cup most Valuable Team of the tournament.Players from six teams have been selected for this 12 member Official ICC Men’s T20 Most Valuable Team which was announced by ICC yesterday.

The Stars from champions Australia, runners-up New Zealand, semi-finalists England and Pakistan as well as Sri Lanka and South Africa feature in the star-studded line up.

Captaining the side at No.3 is Pakistan skipper Babar, who was the only batter to break the 300-run barrier throughout the duration of the competition. He has scored highest 303 runs with four half centuries while Australian opener David Warner (Australia) – 289 runs at 48.16 and England opener and wicket keeper Jos Buttler (269 runs at 89.66, five dismissals) have been named as openers of the team.

Aiden Markram of South Africa and Mooen Ali of England are named as all rounders.

Apart from Warner leg spinner Adam Zampa and seamer Joe's Hazelwood from champion Australia team also in this 12 member team. Sri Lankan Asalanka the 24 year old left hander slots in at No.4 in team. Asalanka who scored 231 runs with a average of 46.20 hit two fifties with best 80 not not against Bangladesh hit match winning 68 against West Indies also earned man of the match awards at this both matches.

Hasaranga who finished top wicket taker with 16 wickets with a a average of 9.75 and Zampa are the two spinners of this team while Australian Hazelwood, New Zealand left arm semer Trent Boult and South African paceman Anrich Nortje are named as fast bowlers of the side.

The side was pulled together by a selection panel featuring commentators, former international players and journalists Ian Bishop (Convenor), Natalie Germanos, Shane Watson, Lawrence Booth – of Wisden, the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday – and Shahid Hashmi of Agence France Presse and ARY Channel.
