Over 460 persons who tried to cross the provinces without a vaild reason were turned back by the Police at roadblocks set up at provincial borders, Police Media Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
He further stated that the special checkpoints have been set up at 13 entry/exit points of the Western Province to monitor those who violate the inter provincial travel restrictions.
The Tri-Forces and the Police Special Task Force (STF) are also manning the roadblocks at all provincial borders including highway entry exit points. Accordingly, the Police have checked 1,144 people travelling in 799 vehicles at the exit points on the Western Province while 1,404 people travelling in 704 vehicles were checked at numerous entry points in the province.
