Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep is in danger of missing the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup after having sustained an injury during the first Twenty20 against Oman at Al Amerat, Muscat on Thursday.

The medium paceman walked back to the pavilion after having bowled only two overs where he returned figures of two wickets for seven overs.

However, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sources yesterday revealed that Pradeep was suffering from a hamstring injury and may well be out of action for almost four weeks. This means he is likely to miss the initial stage of the T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka scheduled to take on Namibia in their Qualifying round fixture on October 18 in Abu Dhabi.

Sri Lanka of course, have added five players to their original World Cup Squad which includes Pathum Nissanka, Minod Bhanuka, Ashen Bandara, Lakshan Sandakan and Ramesh Mendis.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will look to wrap-up the Twenty20 series against Oman when they meet once again in the second game at Al Amerat in Muscat today.

With Nuwan Pradeep out of the contest, Sri Lanka will have another chance to test their reserves ahead of the two official warm-up matches against Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka defeated Oman by 19 runs in the first T20 on Thursday and will be keen to conclude the series on a winning note.

However, Sri Lanka will look for a better performance from their batting order after the top three batters Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis failed to enter double figures.
