The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) donated essential hospital equipment worth Rs. 3,025,000 to the Pottuvil Base Hospital on September 26 under the 28th round of its COVID-19 social hospitality programme titled Jana Suwaya project launched in parallel to the Vipakshayen Husmak programme implemented with the objective of creating a healthy nation.
Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa donated a High Flow Oxygen Unit Machine (Rs. 1,225,000), 5 Function ICU Beds (Rs.600,000), Defibrillator (Rs.1,200,000) to Dr. I.L. Mohamed Rifaz, Director of Pottuvil Base Hospital. Ampara District Samagi Jana Balawegaya electorate organiser M.A. Hassan Ali, Co-organiser Gayan Darshana, Lahugala Pradeshiya Sabha Member Patali Rohana Jayantha, former Lahugala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman R. Chandrasena and others were present on the occasion.
The Vipakshayen Husmak programme is implemented by SJB Parliamentary Group, organisers, members, foreign branches and local and foreign donors with the Jana Suwaya project to provide relief to the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has so far donated hospital equipment worth Rs.80.6 million under this programme.
