Indo-Lanka commercial freight services to begin

Commercial freight services will begin between Karaikal, India and Talaimannar, Sri Lanka by sea and it will be followed by passenger transportation, said the Chief Minister of Puducherry Province, India N. Rangaswamy.

Speaking to Indian media he has said a discussion in this regard has been conducted with the Sri Lankan political authorities.

“The launching of freight services between the two countries through the Mannar pier will be beneficial to the merchants,” he said. He has also emphasized that a permanent solution should be sought to the fishermen’s issue of the both countries.
