Prison rumpus: Statements recorded from officials, inmates

The Commissioner General of Prisons (Administration and Rehabilitation) Chandana Ekanayake said yesterday (17) that statements have been recorded from 15 prison officials and inmates regarding the recent alleged incident at the Anuradhapura Prison involving Minister of State Lohan Ratwatte.

Prisons Commissioner (Supplies) Sunil Kodithuwakku has been appointed by Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Chandana Ekanayake said that after recording the statements made at the Anuradhapura Prison, the Commissioner of Prisons who is conducting the investigation is scheduled to record statements regarding the alleged incident that took place at the Welikada Prison.
