Women and Child Development, Pre-Schools and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Education Services State Minister and Kalutara District Parliamentarian Piyal Nishantha Se Silva provided a stock of medical equipment and face masks to the Kalutara General Hospital recently.
“As politicians, it is our prime duty and responsibility to help those who are adversely affected by the pandemic,” the State Minister said.
He said that he received the consignment of medical equipment and face masks from Dr. Asela Wickramasinghe when he made a request in this regard.
He said his Ministry has launched a series of welfare programmes to assist those suffering from the pandemic. The donation included two ventilators worth over Rs. 1 million and a stock of K-95 surgical face masks.
Kalutara General Hospital Director Dr. Pradeep Ratnasekara said that the face masks will be distributed among health officials at the hospital and the two ventilators will be delivered to two hospitals in the district where there are severe shortages of medical equipment at the moment.
Kalutara National Institute of Health Services (NIHS) Director Dr.Thamara Kalubowila, Philanthropist Dr.Asela Wickramasinghe, Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Chairman Menaka Wimalaratne and several State Officials participated.
