Fifteen year old , right hand top order batsman off spinner and safe fielder in any position athlete and swimmer Menuka Ethmin Vithanage has brought honour and immense fame for his Alma Mater St. Joseph’s College Nugegoda He was born on 20th June 2006 and initially he was admitted to St. John’s College Nugegoda in 2012.

When he was at St. John’s College he participated in the inter house sports meet in 2014 and 15 and he did 80 and 100 metresand got places.

Noticing his talents and keenness for cricket and to enhance this noble game his parents Koshala Vithanage and Anuja de Silva drafted their son to the Grade Six of St. Joseph’s College Nugegoda and he attended under 13 cricket practices and came under Master in Charge of cricket and Prefect of Games Rev. Brother Dulaj and Mr. Viraj respectively.

Same year he was a unanimous choice for the team and passed the 300 run mark with a century and two fifties and in the following year in the under 15 he scored nearly 200 runs with a half century and claimed ten scalps with his off spin and in the next year he passed 150 run mark and captured nine wickets.

Due to Covid the under 17 tournament was postponed and in 2020 as an under 14 cricketer he played for the under 19 all island knockout cricket tournament and he was the Baby of the Team and playing in five matches he collected 150 runs and bagged eight wickets and his coach was Viroshana Alwis.

In addition to cricket over here he did swimming at St. John’s College previously when he was in Grade Three he came first in 25 metres Breast Stroke and Back Stroke and came second in 25 metre Free Style and in the following year he won the Breast Stroke and Back Stroke events and was placed second in Free Style.
