Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya yesterday ordered to exhume the body of the under aged domestic aide who died of burn injuries while being employed at MP Rishard Badiutheen’s residence, for a fresh post-mortem examination by a board of senior Judicial Medical Officers.

Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris sought a Court Order for the exhumation of the child’s body for a fresh post-mortem examination by a board of three senior JMOs as her death is suspicious.

Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris informed Court that MP Rishard Bathiudeen will also be made a suspect in the future over the death and the trafficking of the child.

The wife of MP Rishard Bathiudeen, her father, brother and the broker who supplied the minor to the MP’s residence were ordered to be remanded till August 9 by the Colombo Additional Magistrate.

MP Rishard Bathiudeen’s wife Shiabdeen Ayesha, her Father Mohammed Shiabdeen, her brother Shiabdeen Ismat and the broker Ponniah Pandaram were arrested by the Borella Police on Saturday.

They were ordered to be detained for questioning for 48 hours after being produced before Additional Magistrate Kanchana Niranjana De Silva on Saturday.

The Deputy Solicitor General informed Court that this under-aged girl employed at a house on Bauddhaloka Mawatha died of burn injuries and medical reports revealed that her death was due to burn injuries.

He informed Court that the post-mortem examination also revealed that the child has been subject to sexual abuse for quite some time. The Deputy Solicitor General also informed Court that investigations into her death are continuing on several aspects. The Court was also told that the child had sustained burn injuries at the Parliamentarian’s residence at 6.45 a.m. but had been admitted to hospital only around 8.20 a.m.

He noted that a lighter and a kerosene bottle have also been found from her room and an employee who had worked at this residence earlier had told Police that kerosene was not used at this house. Police had recorded 36 statements from various witnesses pertaining to the death of the teenage domestic maid employed at MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence and they have also collected direct evidence, circumstantial evidence, scientific and technical evidence. Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said that the Police are also conducting further investigations into the death of the 16-year-old domestic aide who was at the residence of MP Bathiudeen.

The Police Spokesman said that the reports submitted by experts have also been taken into consideration, especially the Post-mortem Examination report. In addition, the bank reports have also been received by the Police, which are being analyzed pertaining to money transactions between these parties.

Further investigations are conducted by the Borella Police and other investigation teams. He said that investigations had revealed that another girl had been raped at the residence of the MP prior to this incident.

Further investigations are continuing.
