Sri Lanka to receive Moderna vaccines on Friday

1.5 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to Sri Lanka from the United States next Friday (July 16), said the Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

The vaccine stock is delivered under the World Health Organization’s COVAX facility.

From the 1.5 million doses the Ministry expects to provide 750,000 as the first dose and the remaining 750,000 as the second dose a month later.

This is the first time that Sri Lanka will be receiving Moderna vaccines, which also rely on mRNA technology (like the Pfizer vaccine) and require storage at -20 Celsius.
