Lankan trio advance in ICC Player Rankings

Sri Lanka Captain Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva and Wanindu Hasaranga made steady progress in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Player Rankings after the One Day International (ODI) series against England, which concluded last week.

Wicket-keeper batsman Perera moved up one place to 41st after scoring 82 runs in the series while de Silva gained 10 slots to reach the 74th position. Meanwhile, Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga are in joint 98th position after advancing 13 and 12 places, respectively.

For England, all-rounder Chris Woakes reached a career-best third position among bowlers after claiming six wickets in two matches including a haul of four for 18 in the first ODI.

He has advanced four slots in the list led by New Zealand’s Trent Boult with Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz in second place. Woakes’s previous best was fourth position attained in September last year. He is also up one place to third among all-rounders after overtaking his teammate, Ben Stokes. (ICC)
