Sri Lanka bans passenger arrivals from six Gulf countries

Passengers with a travel history in the past 14 days to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman will not be permitted to disembark in Sri Lanka with effect from July 1 (Thursday), the Civil Aviation Authority announced.

The Authority said the above restriction is applicable till July 14. However, passengers transiting via the above mentioned countries are permitted.

The Authority also announced that passengers with a travel history (including transit) in the past 14 days to Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe would not be permitted to disembark in Sri Lanka with effect from July 1. This restriction is applicable till the end of July.

Civil Aviation Director General Capt. Themiya Abeywickrama made those announcements in accordance with instructions received from the Health Ministry due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
