An individual with the new COVID-19 variant which was currently spreading in India (B.1.617) was found at a quarantine centre in Colombo, Director of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine of Sri Jayewardenepura University Dr. Chandima Jeewandara said.
He said that, the variant was detected after a test conducted on a sample sent by a private hospital in Colombo.
