17 year old Thisara Dananjaya Wanninayake is a talented cricketer of Dharmaraja College,Kandy first XI cricket team and he is a Bowling All-rounder who started playing cricket under the Senior Cricket Coach as well as the Head of the School Cricket Academy,Ananda Wijesekera in the first XI cricket team. Thisara learnt the basics of the game and started playing cricket in the under 13 team in the year 2016 and claimed 15 wickets in five matches, best being claiming 3 for 18 as a right arm leg spinner against Hindu College,Matale. In the following year in 2017 he claimed 18 wickets, best being claiming 4 for 28 against Kingswood College, Kandy and his highest being 52 runs against St.Mary’s College,Kegalle.

In 2018, Thisara showed some improvement under the coaching of Indika Fernando , a past cricketer of St.Anthony’s College,Katugastota who is a Level two Cricket coach attached to Sri Lanka Cricket. During the year 2018 Season he claimed 27 wickets as an under 15 cricketer, his best performance in bowling being a match bag of 10 wickets for only 21 runs against Sandalankawa National School and his highest being 48 runs against Rahula College,Matara.

In the year 2019 he was selected to play for the first XI Cricket team and he bagged 16 wickets at the Under 17 Division One Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. His best bowling feat was claiming 4 wickets for 26 runs against St.Joseph’s College,Colombo and his highest score was 47 runs against Nalanda College,Colombo. He was coached by Thusitha de Silva, an old boy of Ananda College. In 2019 Thisara was selected to the Central Province School Cricket team as an outstanding and still he is in the team.

His main ambition is to continue playing club cricket after his School career and he is thankful to his cricketcCoaches and his family for the encouragement and support given to him.
