The Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) in a special operation seized 13 Kilograms of crystal methamphetamine also know an ‘ICE’ worth Rs.130 million from a house at Nawandama in the Ja-Ela Police area on Sunday evening (11), Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Six suspects including two females have been taken into the PNB custody during the raid, he said. The ice was packed in small plastic boxes and hidden in two school bags, police said.
They have been brought to the PNB for further questioning. Investigations are going on, he said.
Meanwhile, the police media spokesman said that there could be an increased availability of synthetic drugs in the market due to the dearth of heroin.
The Police and security forces in recent times have detected large quantities of heroin and have arrested several major drug dealers.
DIG Rohana said the police will intensify operations on drug trafficking in the coming days.
