Case against Manoranjan postponed for June 2

Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage yesterday postponed for June 2 the inquiry into a case filed against former Industry and Commerce Ministry Accountant Alagaratnam Manoranjan.

Apart from Alagaratnam Manoranjana, Samsudeen Mohamed Yasim and former minister Rishad Bathiudeen were also arrested and remanded over the incident. The suspects are currently out on bail.

Bathiudeen, Samsudeen, and Manoranjan are accused of violating the Presidential Elections Act by misappropriating public funds to the tune of Rs.9.5 million.

They have been accused of misusing 222 SLTB buses for transporting Internally-Displaced Persons from Puttalam to polling stations in Silawathurai, Mannar, during the 2019 Presidential Election.
