TNA will support Government if it resolves national issue – MP Sumanthiran

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will not hesitate to support the Government if it is committed to provide a long lasting solution to the national question through a new Constitution, TNA MP M. A. Sumanthiran said.

He said that there had not been any Constitutional Amendment to provide a political solution to the issues of the Tamil speaking people in the North and the East.

The MP was speaking to the media at a TNA meeting on the proposed new Constitution. He said that the 13th Amendment to the Constitution made an effort in this regard.

He said that if the Government is willing to give a long lasting solution for the national question, then not only the TNA but also all other Tamil parties would not hesitate to work with the Government. esponding to a question by the media on controversial remarks by an Indian Minister on establishing a branch of the Barathiya Janatha Party in Sri Lanka, MP Sumanthiran said the political discourse surrounding this comment is not a problem for the TNA.
