All should get opportunities equally – Minister Devananda

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Douglas Devananda said that the people in the Trincomalee District should receive dividends of the development projects and thousands of jobs that are being provided under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The Minister was speaking at the Local Industries Promotion Committee Progress Review Meeting at the Trincomalee Secretariat Auditorium recently. State Ministers Kanchana Wijsekara, Prasanna Ranaweera District Development Council Chairman, Parliamentarian Kapila Nuwan Athukorala and Ministry Secretaries were present.

''The Government has given priority to develop rural infrastructure facilities and to strengthen livelihoods of the rural people. Therefore, drinking water will be provided to every household very soon, 100,000 km of rural roads will be rehabilitated and sea and fresh water fishing industry will be developed. ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandara’ – ‘Weda SamagaYali Gamata'' programmes of the President have been launched in this regard,” he said.

Government Officials should be committed to make these programmes successful. They should encourage the people to involve in the nation-building efforts of the Government and open new avenues of income for them,” the Minister said.
