The Sri Lanka Air Force and the Eagle’s Golf Links will host the 8th Commander’s Cup - 2021, annual Golf Tournament for Men and Women from January 22 to 24, on the picturesque settings of China Bay, close to the Harbour City of Trincomalee.
The Championship is organised by the Sri Lanka Air Force, under the guidance of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana. Over 100 local and foreign golfers took part in the last year’s tournament while the Organising Committee will expect only local competitors this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Organising Committee said at a press conference held at the Air Force Headquarters on January 12. “we have received around 80 entries, and it will increase in the next few days. Entries will be closed on January 15, 2021, and we are expecting to conduct the tournament under the health guidelines. In addition to the Commander’s Cup, the golfers will also vie for the Eagles’ Challenge Trophy, which is awarded to the best serving player from the Tri-Forces in Men and Women categories respectively. The trophies will be awarded to Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin for both men and women categories. The tournament will conclude with a grand awards ceremony on January 23 evening at Bay View, China Bay.
