Twenty one test COVID positive at Batticaloa Hospital

Twenty one employees at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital have tested COVID positive, Hospital Director Ganesalingam Kalaranjini said.

He said that patients who attend clinics should get their medicines through Post Offices and Grama Sevaka Niladaries.

A press conference was held at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital yesterday in this regard.

Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Adalaichenai, Akkaraipattu, Kalmunai South, Sainthamaruthu and Uhana have been declared as red zones. Over 425 COVID cases have been hospitalised and of them, 80 have been confirmed COVID positive and three had died.

The public should seek treatments from the hospital only when it is extremely necessary and only one person is allowed to visit the those who have been admitted. The public have been urged to limit their visiting time.

"Those who come to help the patient will be allowed only for severe cases. We are providing the necessary services to the patients. Everyone must cooperate to carry out the services of the hospital while maintaining healthcare guidelines," she said.
