Solar power for Galewela PS

The Galewela Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) will set up a solar power project at a cost of Rs.5 million to provide power for the PS, its Chairman M.P.R.Jayathilaka said at a recent monthly meeting.

He said that the monthly electricity bill of the PS is over Rs.130,000 and Rs.30,000 has to be paid for the power bill of the Administrative Building alone. The proposed project, therefore, should be installed very soon, he said.

The PS could get power it needs via solar power and over Rs.40,000 can be earned monthly by selling solar power to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) as well, the Chairman said.

Twenty per cent of the PS fund will be allocated in this regard and the balance will be taken from the Local Credit Development Fund on concessionary interest, the Chairman said.
