Jobs to be provided to most deserving, suitable applicants – Sanath Nishantha

Only the most deserving, irrespective of political affiliations have been chosen as job recipients under the programme initiated by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to provide 100,000 Government jobs to the poorest families in all regions of the country, said Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Puttalam district leader and State Minister of Rural and Regional Drinking Water Supply Projects Development Sanath Nishantha Perera.

He was addressing the newly recruited trainees to the Multipurpose Development Task Force from the Puttalam district. One hundred and seventy two trainees received their appointment letters on the occasion.

“The biggest problem in the country today is poverty. The Government aims to rescue the people from poverty. That is why the Government has come forward to provide employment, especially to improve living standards of low income families, even at a time when the world economy is in a state of collapse and inactivity due to COVID-19 pandemic situation,” he said.

The State Minister said that there may be some minor setbacks, obstacles and misunderstandings, but we are determined to achieve our targets for the greater well-being of the people and the country.

“The 20th Amendment to the Constitution was introduced to overcome such obstacles while improving the speed and efficiency in the implementation of projects and proposals that are beneficial to the country”.

Private Secretary to the State Minister Attorney-at-Law Chamari Perera was also present.
