The Metrology Department warned that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in many places in the Island today.
“Showers will occur at several places in Northern and Eastern Provinces and in the coastal areas of the Hambantota district during the morning too.”
The Department warned adding that showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Jaffna, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
