The Dadella Sports Complex in Galle, would be soon upgraded to an international beach volleyball and beach football centre, under the directions of Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Namal Rajapaksa.

In fact, the Minister has already decided to hand over the Dadella Sports Complex to the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF).

The Minister also headed a strong delegation to inspect the refurbishment work being carried out at the Dadella Sports Complex in Galle on Saturday (17).

The Minister had instructed officials to construct a beach volleyball and a beach football arena closer to the sea area adjoining the Dadella Sports Complex.

The Dadella Sports Complex will also include an indoor stadium and an outdoor playground in addition to a swimming pool.

This will be a pilot project under the directions of the Sports Minister who is also planning to dedicate leading sports stadiums of the country to different national sports associations.

The Sports Minister is also hoping to dedicate the Sugathadasa Outdoor Stadium in Colombo to the Football Federation of Sri Lanka and the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool Complex to the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union.

In addition, the Jayatilleke Sports Stadium in Nawalapitiya, will be handed over to Sri Lanka Rugby and the Aluvihare Stadium in Matale will be handed over to the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation.

Although the stadiums will be handed over to the respective federations, the maintenance of the venues will be a responsibility of the Sports Ministry.

Therefore, a joint coordination committee comprising stadium officials and officials of the respective sports federations will be formed in this regard.
